About Kyle Mitton

Kyle Mitton

I'm Kyle Mitton, a Métis servant-leader with 15 years of experience guiding cross-functional teams through complex technology delivery — from cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure to community-driven digital solutions. I led the Lifeguard OD app, a mobile overdose-prevention tool built in partnership with the BC Government and PHSA, now used by MNBC. Along the way, I've led teams of 10+ direct reports, mentored project managers, and built my reputation on one principle: clear the path so blockers never become excuses.

My governance experience comes from working directly with the BC Government, PHSA, and 911 emergency services, where I participated in numerous trials and pre-tests to help bring critical programs to life. I currently sit on the Student Advisory Board (SAB), and for most of my project management career I've reported directly to C-level executives — experience I bring to MNBC's boardroom. I also serve as Director at Large with the Sea to Sky Métis Association, supporting governance and community programming.

I'm running for my family, for those who don't have a voice, and for a brighter future for us all. Families First.

Platform & Priorities

Autism & Special Needs Funding

No family should be left without support after age 8.

  • Create dedicated, stable autism funding at MNBC so families aren't left without support after age 8
  • Faster, more consistent access to assessments, therapies, and supports for Métis children on the spectrum
  • Treat special needs as lifelong, with funding and advocacy that extends through youth and into adulthood

Métis and Inuit Seats at the Table

Advocating for Métis voice where Indigenous People are required.

  • Guarantee that wherever First Nations are at the decision-making table, Métis and our cousins, the Inuit, also have seats and voices
  • Ensure MNBC citizens are represented directly in discussions that affect lands, services, and rights
  • Push for inclusive Indigenous governance instead of "one group only" arrangements

STEP Training and Education Support

Education and career support that lasts.

  • Expand and stabilize STEP-style funding for post-secondary education and training
  • Provide guidance and support so Métis citizens can get into programs, finish them, and move into sustainable careers
  • Use data on education and employment to prove success and justify continued investment

Economic Development and Community Self-Sufficiency

Helping communities become self-sufficient and attain renewable revenue.

  • Support communities to build their own businesses and partnerships so they generate local income rather than relying only on MNBC funds
  • Use that economic base to hire staff and reduce the burden on volunteers who currently run programs alone
  • Encourage creative, community-driven ventures (for example, a drone business or other local enterprises) as models for self-sustaining Métis communities

Citizen Connection and Belonging

We Are All Métis - Connected Forever

  • Grow regional gatherings, cultural events, and language programs so citizens across BC feel close to MNBC, not distant from it
  • Improve communication through regular updates, town halls, and clear channels so citizens know what's happening and why
  • Build mentorship and community networks that connect rural, remote, and urban Métis citizens, making sure everyone feels represented and heard
